One comment I often hear about large training classes is, “My dog doesn’t act like this at home!” This is because the dog is stressed about being in a strange place, around a lot of other dogs that are also stressed, and a stressed dog is a lot harder to train then one that is calm and comfortable. The owners are stressed as well by the embarrassment they feel when their dog does not perform like everyone else’s. Let’s face it--aren’t you more comfortable learning something new at home? This is the reason that I do what I do--I love teaching people how to train their own dogs! In the home environment, I get to see the real dog and owner. I can better analyze the problems the owners are having, address any serious issues immediately and customize a training plan that fits their lifestyle and needs. The training and education I provide gives the owners the necessary tools to make their dogs happy, healthy and balanced. In turn, owners are able to enjoy their companions and fewer dogs end up in shelters because their owners cannot control them. FAST TRACK PROGRAM
*Mouthing, barking, potty training, etc. The trainer will explain and show the owner all appropriate commands and methods. Doing this type of program insures repetitious learning, with which the dog will learn faster. To insure the owners are using appropriate methods correctly, I recommend two follow-up visits after week one and week two to make any training adjustments and to correct any issues that might have arisen since the last visit.
Follow-up visits: $50.00 each 6-WEEK PROGRAM:
*Mouthing, barking, potty training, etc. The trainer will instruct owner on all appropriate commands and methods. The owner will do most of the training with the guidance of trainer. This program works best when the owner is totally committed to the training program. With this type of program, most clients will make two follow up visits, one month apart, to adjust any training issues that arise after the end of the 6-week program.
Cost: **$65.00 per dog per session. Payment due before each session. Follow-up visits: $50.00 each **Discounts given for multiple dogs. AGILITY TRAINING: I offer Agility classes, private and semi-private lessons. I also do workshops and seminars. Dock Diving workshops are also conducted several times a year. I am also available to give obedience seminars and workshops. Comments from past clients: I have had the pleasure of taking lessons from Laurie Skinner. She not only teaches my dog, but she teaches me too. I have found her punctual in her scheduling, organized with her lesson programs and very knowledgeable about her tasks at hand. I think she is a very responsible, resourceful, efficient and professional person. Gail and I strongly recommend Laurie Skinner to anyone regarding K9 training. We contracted Laurie for the purpose of in home K9 training and were extremely impressed with her skills, knowledge and application of dog psychology. We also enrolled our German Shepard in her Agility Training class and were again extremely impressed with her training skills. Laurie, I have known Laurie Skinner for 10 years. A few character traits I would give her are, loyal, intelligent, honest and responsible. I know this from experience, we have worked on many projects together. Laurie has a great concern for her community and has done a tremendous amount of volunteering. She is thorough and is someone you can depend on. For over 30 years, I have had the pleasure of working with Laurie on many projects. I can honestly say she is hard working, honest, thorough and accurate. I have said quite a few times, if no one can figure it out, Laurie can. I trust Laurie with all the dogs I own. |
